new Server build name as Existing DNS Alias Record
Hi,
I have Server in place for as RTCServer1 with static IP Address and Alias record as WebServer1. Now there is requirement from business to build new server with another static IP address but Server must be named Webserver1. because of the ERP application restriction. I think this will conflict with DNS record.
Please can any one clear my confusion is this possible to set new server with Similar name of Existing Alias (CAME) Record.
Regards
Asif

To my knowledge you can add it to AD and have a DNS record but you will have huge problems as it will most likely round robin the traffic to either or IP. So half the packets designated for the other server will end up at the new Server and vise versa...
Hope that makes sense,

Thanks for quick reply, the original server name is suppose RTCserver1 but it has Alias CNAME WebServer1.
As my understanding I cannot setup an other server with similar name Webserver1 because Alias Record already exist in DNS.
please comment.
Thanks
