Can we still purchase left Windows 7 pro licences for business

We are looking for a way to purchase some licences of Windows 7 Pro or as OEM with Dell, Hp, Toshiba or any other name brand.    We read that Windows 7 support ended in 2017 but extended to 2010.

Please advice.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Assuming the machine came with a "Pro" operating system, you can purchase a single Volume License for Windows 10 and use downgrade rights - you get media and keys and can reload on any system that shipped with "Pro" - so long as it was Windows 7 Pro, Windows 8 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro, or Windows 10 Pro.

You cannot buy OEM (non-Volume) licenses any more except on eBay or like vendors.

You should be able to purchase recovery media from your computer manufacturer. Some still supply the media.

As your Windows 7 machines die off, replace them with Windows 10.

Lee probably has the simplest approach for "from scratch" on a new machine.

An alternative, possibly cheaper and easier:  Find a Dell model you like that shipped with W7 Pro available, then go to your local computer recycler or fleabay.  Be sure to check the System ID at the Dell web site to confirm that particular machine shipped with W7 Pro and not some other version.  You can upgrade CPU and memory without affecting the W7 rights.  Then use the Dell "Skylake" W7 reinstall DVD which is readily available on the internet.  No COA is necessary; the Dell BIOS contains a W7 validation string.

I buy Dell W7 machines from the local recycler for about $15 each.
