O365 SMTP On-Prem to Cloud Issue (Wrong Region?)
Friday morning my on-prem exchange server starting giving Error 1 for all emails sent from on-prem SMTP to our student office 365 domain.
Error 1: 451 4.4.62 Mail sent to the wrong Office 365 region. ATTR35. For more information please go to https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=865268
I followed the advise and changed my O365 connector settings from smtp:xxxx.zzzz.nsw.edu.au & smtp:xxxxzzzznswedu.mail.o nmicrosoft .com to smtp:xxxx-zzzz-nsw-edu-au. mail.prote ction.outl ook.com.
Once this change happened mailflow for on-prem to student o365 domain didn't fix. And then all mail started getting Error 2
Error 2: Server refused mail at END OF DATA - 554 5.4.14 Hop count exceeded - possible mail loop ATTR34 [SY3AUS01FT009.eop-AUS01.p rod.protec tion.outlo ok.com]
I have the following setup.
On-Prem Exchange 2010
On-Prem MailMarshal
O365 Primary: xxxxzzzznswedu.mail.onmicr osoft.com
Additional: zzzz.nsw.edu.au (staff accounts)
Additional: xxxx.zzzz.nsw.edu.au (student accounts)
For students mail flow is straight to O365 Cloud
For staff mail flow is via Mail Marshal. Marshal sends to on-prem exchange who passes onto O365 via the connector.
