asked on
outlook, signature
we are having issue with 1 user's outlook signature
we are having citrix desktop where user can log in any desptop available in office and will carry his own profile.
we have signature files stored on network drive -appdata-roaming-microsoft -signatures
which is streamed from their C drive, for some reason under c drive - Hkey_current _user- software-Microsoft-windows -explorer- shell folders- on all other uers
desktop it is pointing to the file server.\\network server name\
but under the affected user name c drive - Hkey_current _user- software-Microsoft-windows -explorer- shell folders- appdata is pointing -c\users\users name\appdata\roaming
so whenever users logs off from desktop , his signature goesaway and has to manually create his signature.
anything i can correct in registry or environment variables on the affected users' C drive.

q1 since we are having non persistence desktop, we tested by allowing that user to log into different desktop but signature goes away.
q2 just the signature
q3 citrix UPM

By default CUPM sync's all %appdata% unless there is an exclusion.
A few things come to mind.
1: The Citrix User Profile Management is not installed
2: The User is not applied to the GPO for Citrix for UPM
3: The VDI does not have the UPM GPO settings applied.
4: I do not think exclusion because you said others are not experiencing this.
You mentioned that you have this User in a one off group.
Is his vdi disk a completely different as the other users?

Did you mention something about the user being part of a different security group to target a different Non-Persistent Desktop?
I would like at all the GPO's that apply to the Computer and User. You can do this by using RSOP.MSC or Group Policy Result Wizard on GPMC.
Have the user logon to a VDI
Run either RSOP from the VDI or GPRW from GPMC (remotely)
Go to the part of the GPO where you know UPM is configured and see if the settings that you expect are there.
Review the Event Log for any errors.
I have see it were the user does not have the proper security (ACL) to the folder and it will not copy down nor write back to the directory.

what is GPRW
ASKER
WHERE CAN IC HECK TEH acl FOLDER
The Network share where UPM stores the files.
ASKER
how can I install code 2 signature on that user's as a work around
ASKER
I saw in google -Email Signatures for Office 365 from code 2
You can use folder redirection for AppData. I have never redirected APPDATA, but it should work the same way as Documents and other redirected folders.
Did you get a chance to run RSOP or GPRW from GPMC?
If you did I would be happy to look over it for you.

Can u provide the command to run gp for that user
ASKER
AAP data is redirected but after log off of vm it reverts back to c drive
ASKER
Can I run drop.msc on his vm
ASKER
Rsop
Yes, but I find using GPSW an easier method.

we have on a network drive -Microsoft-signature folder .we have folder redirection on C drive on App data .Hkey_current _user- software-Microsoft-windows -explorer- shell folders- which for all users gives the app data path to file server from where all settings are pulled but for this user it shows
on his c drive it shows C drive\users\his name\appdta\roaming, we check group policy it is applied to all users correctly
his vm is in correct subnet , don't know why GP is not getting applied for this app data only

I know CUPM is a Computer setting in GPO. So if this GPO is not linked to the OU where the VDI computer object resides then it will never apply.
Would you be able to share screenshots of the OU the VDI object is in and the GPO's that are linked?

I see 1 difference when I matched my GP result with the affected user GP result
under appdata\ roaming I see outlook2010 .Ink (\appdata\roaming\windows\ startmenu\ office\microsoftoutlook.In k)but on mine it shows outlook 2010 only
does it make any difference
under appdata\ roaming I see outlook2010 .Ink (\appdata\roaming\windows\

It really works nice and it seems to be a solution in this case as well.
