hmm... i do not really want to remove the followed topics.
just stop having my notification box polluted by unwanted notifs
i've solved the email problem a long time ago by forgetting about the corresponding mailbox :;

thanks anyway, i'm concerned about side effects but this should help.
actually there is a setting in the above mentioned location

Send me updates when a question is posted in a topic I follow
On-Site Notification On/Off

thanks
Hi,

Sorry for the late reply.  In your settings > communication > General area there should be a way to turn off this new feature for Followed Topics.

For context, an announcement was posted in the expert community discussion group by our Community Adviser Rob Jurd.

Is there anything else we may assist you with?

Well, while not wanting to sound aggrieved, in the future it would be nice to get an email at least a week before such a change is rolled out, offering us the chance to pre-emptively turn the feature off before it is activated, instead of learning about it post hoc.

Hi Dr. Klahn,

Fair enough.  I'll make sure Rob and Rourke get your feedback on notification of upcoming releases.  For future reference, please ensure you are joined up in that group of experts and get notifications when new discussions are posted, or come back weekly to see if there are new discussions.  We are pretty active in there. ;)

yes. do not EVER launch a new feature that results in more email without making it exclusively opt-in for existing members.

those who actually read the announcements are likely to opt-in if they want to.

those who do not are likely to be hugely annoyed, and feel their trust is being betrayed if you opt them in without intervention.
