Recover corrupt JPGs from 2003.

Dear Experts Exchange,

I have some old JPG files since 2003, which were corrupted I think straight from the camera (Canon Ixus). I have kept them because I hoped one day I would find some tech that could recover the underlying images as they are of the family. Can you help?

I have tried a bunch of jpg recovery apps over the years, and sent them to an 'expert' once too. No joy.

I see you have a case where someones corrupted disc had 0x0 resolution jpgs. And it seems to have been fixed. Can you help me?

I have added some example jpgs below.

Regards Andrew

Sorry I am figuring out the upload process! I think I got some attached now?
I think I got some attached now?
Yes, four JPGs, although one of them is the same one twice (WG-002).
The one I tried (last one) does not open with Paint, Irfan View, Snagit, or any viewer.  It opens with Ultra Edit but that is not illuminating.  I don't think there is much hope for these files.
The error I got with Acrobat is that it had possibly been sent to you as an attachment to an email and improperly decoded.
The magic numbers for these three files are different. Perhaps they are just random data

Hi Andrew,
I tried three JPG fix tools (one local, two online)...all said no dice. I then tried to determine the type of file from its contents using TrID in the event that it's some other file type rather than a JPG, but no luck with that:

I'm with John on this one...no hope for these files, as far as I can tell. Regards, Joe
I then tried to determine the type of file from its contents using TrID
TrID uses magic numbers to identify files
Thank you all so much for having a go and for taking the time for this feedback. I think this puts the issue to bed.
cheers Andrew

My guess is that trying to open a JPG in a few application is nothing more than what OP tried.

Joe and I checked file headers and used online/offline recovery tools.
Thank you for following up.
