DISM offline vs online
What is the main difference between DISM offline vs DISM online
?
Offline/online has nothing to do with being offline or online (=internet access). It tells the dism command to work with the current system (=online) or with an offline image (=offline).

Offline needs the source files to be present (which sometimes are not). Online does go out and get the new files if need be.
Agree with McKnife. Online works with the currently running OS. Offline works with WIM files that are not actively running.
No John. That's "features on demand" and has to do with the /source flag. Totally different.

DISM online will get the files it needs online while it is running.
Unless you have some reason to be offline, run DISM online. Easier and more likely to have no problems.
