DFS tab missing on some shares.

I am trying to set up some shares, using DFS and DFS replication.

Problem I am seeing is inconsistent appearance of the DFS tab on my client PC.

Numerous, existing DFS shares I have mapped by a GPO show this tab, but with new shares it seems to be missing. Manually mapping an existing share to the same DFS share is leaving me with one drive letter that has the tab, and another that does not.

This is illustrated in the attached screenshot, Q: has the tab, Z: does not. In this instance, Q was mapped via a GPO, and has been given a label, while Z: was mapped manually with NET USE. New drives mapped via  a GPO also lack the tab.

It seems that mappings created in the past have the DFS tab, but new ones do not.

Client PC is Windows 10 Pro, 1803. DFS and File server is Windows Server 2008R2.

Any ideas?

I cannot reproduce your problem here on 1803, it just works and the tab is visible. Following your screenshot, it seems you are doing it differently on both occasions: the left picture shows that q: is mapped to \\DFS-Root\clientshares, while the right one, z:, is mapped to \\pfs.ad\clientfolders and that is why it's different with DFS tabs. Perfectly normal behavior.
