Slow interaction between outlook client on a 3rd party server (its a generic mailbox and they wanted a client on it to check journalling which has worked fine up to now) and our exchange server, Outlook client has been updated to  2010 (32 bit), windows patched, new profile created, mailbox isnt that big. 1GB

Its a VM with 8GB, 2 vCPU no CPU issues should be fine, whats best way to troubleshoot this?

Probably need a bit more information, but have you checked network speed  / ping response times. checked DNS settings to ensure they are correct (flush the dns) maybe transfer a file to check network speeds. Also you mention upgraded to 2010 32 bit, this is now quite an old client, any chance you can use a newer outlook client - say 2016?

good Luck!

If you take it out of 'Cached mode' does it perform better?

Also, what's your Exchange version and CU? Also curious about what "slow interaction" means more precisely...
