will the Amazon Echo (2nd generation) have a negative impact upon wireless and internet performance?

Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

I will be purchasing an Amazon Echo (2nd generation) soon which brings me to this upcoming question.    Is there any potential of the Amazon Echo (2nd generation) having a negative impact upon my wireless and internet performance?  If so, what can I expect the drawbacks to be?

          Thank you

The echo does not send speech back to the mother ship until it hears its name. It then bursts the speech back for recognition and function, and send back what needs to be done, and some speech to answer.  The amount of data will depend on how much you use it, but so far, the data hit is tiny.

That said, if you start a music channel playing, it will use data.ike any other streaming service, and if you forget to stop it when you leave, it will just keep on playing. That potentially could use up bandwidth.

Other than that, it is fairly quiet on the Network other than occasional pings to be sure it can still see the mother ship, and check for messages and alerts.

What is your concern? Using up bandwidth or putting traffic on the WiFi?

Hello Owen,

Thank you for your feedback.  With respect to my concern, I was wanting to make sure that using Amazon Echo while surfing and downloading on the internet will not create conflicts with one another.  In other words, I was wanting to make sure that my occasional use of the Amazon Echo would not deter or slow down internet performance on my laptop.

It won't We use ours all the time to listen to music and even when playing, I do not notice any slowdown on other machines.
