Changing tons of crystal report connection

Hi EE,

is there a way to change tons of Crystal reports connection dynamically or with a software ? without going one by one ?
We are changing and upgrading our SQL server and we have about 500 crystal reports (they may not be all used, but who knows) as soon as I change the server, I believe all of them will stop working.

Of course if we go one by one to change the connection inside it will work, I was wondering is there is a faster way ?

Hi,

Which version of Crystal Reports?

I think you can do that using a schedule manager where, you can update connection details for multiple reports at once.
Schedule manager is a tool provided by SAP although it's a old tool, just check if that's helpful.

Here is the link you can refer to: http://megibi.com/2013/06/schedule-manager-xi-3-1/

Wow, not been around for a while, but seems like nothing changed here.  VisualCut resellers still actively promoting the tool in this forum.
I am very surprised that mlmcc did not mention R-Tag DataSource Updater. As far as I know, it is the only tool on the market able to update Crystal reports connections and verify them. There are multiple other tools with limited capabilities. Some are working just with ODBC connections, some may update a connection partially. The majority have issues switching from one connection type to another one, updating reports developed in older versions of Crystal reports and upgraded to newer one, etc. Changing Crystal reports connection without verifying it is dangerous and many times creates issues with the data. I will be very curious if somebody can provide information about any tool except R-Tag DataSource Updater, which is able to update the connection and verify it.

In addition, there are plenty of Crystal reports processed with crappy tools. After processing reports partially work, but start loading really slow and cause random connections issues. Here is an example from 2011, a question posted here in Expert-Exchange. A report connection was corrupted because the connection was not updated correctly.  The report was working but loading was very slow.  R-Tag DataSource Updater was used to reset the connection and to make the report useful again

R-Tag DataSource Updater can be found here:  http://r-tag.com/Pages/CRDataSource.aspx

P.S. mlmcc,  I see that you were part of the discussion for 2011 question. You know about R-Tag's tool at least since that time, I guess it is easy to guess you know also that the tool is working ( see the comments in the thread above).  But you still promote Ido's software. It looks like helping askers is not your priority.
