Can I transfer my phone service from iPhone 8 to a different phone and still be able to recover my photos later from the iPhone 8?

Can the client transfer phone service to their old iPhone SE?  They want to make sure if they do transfer their phone services over to a new phone that it won't mess with their attempts to recover their photos from the iPhone 8.  The plan is now to buy a replacement kit and try replacing the lcd and screen, but they also need to get a phone working again.

Will they be OK?

Thank you.

If you hook up the faulty Iphone to a computer, does the computer recognize the device and can you see the folders on the Sim or storage card? If so, is the problem that they are corrupted and you can't drill into them?

Sorry, just trying to better understand the problem. I've dealt a lot with transferring items between different model iPhones and never had an issue with losing anything - not even text messages etc.

Also, could this help you out? I've used the Free version several times with a lot of success.

If not, I own several other commercial products for transfer purposes that have all served me well and never failed me. Even from iPhone to Android and vice versa. I'd just try the above free one first though as it's done the job for me several times now..
It shouldn't.  The data will remain on the iPhone until you wipe it.  I kept an old iPhone and had to delete the data on it later on.  It basically worked like an ipod.

Thank you.
I just did this today on a user's phone.  The phone I took the SIM out still had the existing data.  I could join the WiFi and email still worked.  It just couldn't make calls anymore.
