If you want to use MySQL in a Access database the steps to follow are described here: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/connector-odbc/en/connector-odbc-examples-tools-with-access-linked-tables.html
MySQL ODBC driver can be found here https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/ and must be installed on the same computer with the Access database.

You should be able to "... use a MySQL database with Microsoft Access using Connector/ODBC. The MySQL database can be used as an import source, an export source, or as a linked table for direct use within an Access application, so you can use Access as the front-end interface to a MySQL database." as described here: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/connector-odbc/en/connector-odbc-examples-tools-with-access.html

depending on what you entered when connectin, did you use username, password and database?
Did you setup a user that has requisite rights (grant  on the mysql)
tested the ODBC connection?
