Paging ShoreTel phones & Valcom Speakers together
Ok, this is the last part to getting our site paging worked out.
I need to know how I can get our ShoreTel phones speakerphones to work with Valcom speakers when a page is sent out.
We have a ShoreTel system 14.2 director and Valcom v-2003A paging controller. We need our system to page all phones and all Valcom speakers at the same time.
Can this be accomplished?
If this scenario cannot be accomplished with our current equipment then what would I need to replace/upgrade?

Do you know if you're accessing your overhead paging through a "Paging Extension" on the Shortel?

I've been in contact with Valcom and they suggested a VIP-204a and setup ext. on our ShoreTel server for each zone or SIP.
Looking into this to see if it will work.

Great idea!
If you explained what you had, and that's what they suggested, I see no reason why it wouldn't
Like I said in your earlier post, If you run into problems, they're there to help you set things up

i dont see why you can't use the existing 2003. as long as it's just one way paging. connect your valcom to the switch page port, configure your extension and add the page extension to the page group. Here is a link with some instructions on the proccess.

But get this...our current vendor/ShoreTel cert vendor that installed and maintains our ShoreTel system said "This will not work as the only way for Shoretel to be able to dial zones is through a trunk port access. If this item is installed then you can have all overhead speakers and extensions paged at the same time but you will not be able to choose whether or not you want outside speakers and inside speakers."
Valcom previously emailed me and said "You can use the VIP-204A 4 zone SIP Paging Server replacing the V-2003A, however, you’ll need a SIP extension for each zone and all call."
The vendor has been saying to us that the only way to make this work is to buy their $20,000 software w/$6,000 annual maintenance service.
Currently (as I already explained to Ken) we have 3 zones.
1. Inside building (Phones do no page with the V-2003A)
2. Outside building
3. Inside and Outside
The final piece to make this project complete is to have Zone 1 page overhead and phones. Zone 3 to page overhead/outside/phones.
That's what we are after ... paging that include overhead and phones simultaneously.

Are you using a suretel paging extension to page to overhead speakers now?
Like I indicated before, I'm not familiar with the Suretel, but if you're using a page extension for your overhead paging (to the V-2003a)
then you should be able to create a page group and include the extension for a "all-page"
then you should be able to create a page group and include the extension for a "all-page"

Getting a hold of ShoreTel and asking them the same question. Get back to you when I've got some info.

Haven't had much traction on this from ShoreTel or other forums. Still looking for a solution.
