Cannot delete iPad calendar notification

I have a calendar notification on my iPad which I cannot clear. The notification is an event invitation that I canceled and when I click Delete event nothing happens. I have tried reentering the event and canceling it again and this doesn't remove the notification. The calendar is synced with my MS Exchange Outlook calendar.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This sounds like a permissions issue. If your IPad calendar is synced with an Exchange Server, login as admin to the MS Exchange Outlook calendar and remove the event from there. That should remove it from your IPad calendar as well.

You may need to resync the Calendar.  One way to do it is to disable the Calendar sync first.  Wait.  Then enable the Calendar Sync.

Open Settings
Scroll down and select Accounts & Passwords
Select your email acccount.  You will see Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes.
Disable your Calendar.  Calendar entries will disappear.
Wait a bit.  Check your calendar.
Go through the process and enable the Calendar again.

Thanks. Turning off the sync and turning it back on worked. Got rid of that annoying notification.
