Azure VM connect to

Hi

I have just connected to my Azure VM for the first time and see the screen shown in the image below.
I am not sure what the relevance of the list is. Must I go through it? Where can I find tutorials on doing this?
I'm not sure where to start

No, you don't have to go through any or all of the steps provided.  They are just suggestions. I normally just hide it. 2018-08-30_15-23-28.pngEvery new user will be presented with this screen

I think the real question is - why did you create an Azure VM and what do you want to do with it?

You MAY need to do some of those things (but certainly not all).

My client's on premise servers were full of viruses and "hacked according to them. I am setting up the Azure VM as a replacement. They just run Pastel on their server

I have no idea what pastel is other than something to draw with.

You have no experience with Windows Server newer than S2K8R2.  What makes you think that a Server in the cloud will not also become infected as the on-premises ones are? What roles are on the on-premises server(s)
