Disable APC SMT1500RM2U from beeping

I have an APC SMT1500RM2U battery backup at my house that will intermittently beep for one minute every 12 hours.

I have checked the health of this Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) and know what the problem is but won't be able to purchase replacement batteries for a little bit.

In the meantime is there any way I can disable or turn off this UPS's beeping sound so that it will stop waking me up in the middle of the night?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Should be able to disable the audible alarm via PowerPath under advanced properties if you have it installed.

It's beeping by design, to let you know of a problem. Until you get it fixed, you will have to install the PowerChute software then connect it via USB and turn off the audible alarms.

Is there any way of turning off the audible alarms by logging into the APC UPS' IP address web console?

This UPS is already connected to my switch with a network cable and I'm hoping to be able to turn off the alarms or audible alerts there without having to connect with a USB cable.

Can't you just rip the beeper out?

Open the case, locate the beeper.  Cut one lead going to the beeper.  Drill a small hole in the case, install a miniature toggle switch.  Solder wires from the cut lead to the switch.  Now you can turn the beeper on and off externally without destroying the warning functionality of the beeper.  Then find out why the beeper is going off.  Per the above, it's beeping for a reason.
