Site to Site VPN using Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks POS.
I do not see why multiple Quickbooks POS desktops at different locations over a Site to Site OpenVPN would not work. Quickbooks sales is stating so but it feels like they just want to sell larger more expensive multi-store licenses.
Does anyone have any experience with trying Site to Site VPN setups with Quickbooks POS talking to other Quickbooks POS systems as well as Quickbooks Desktop?

I definitely agree with John. It would be OK if you have the correct multi-user licensing to do this using a remote desktop type of solution. You could even have people connect over a site-to-site VPN to the site where the QuickBooks database is stored and then use a remote desktop connection over the VPN to a workstation there and run QuickBooks on that workstation. But trying to work with a QuickBooks database over a VPN where you're transmitting the data back and forth would be a recipe for bad things.
What you can do, and I have done, is access the QB computer from a remote location and then use QB at the local computer that you have accessed from the remote location.

You need to use QuickBooks on the same machine as its database OR over a very fast LAN connection. VPN or any other similar remote access is too slow for an application like QuickBooks. QB is not unique. Other client server applications have the same issue over a remote connection.
