Exchange mailbox archiving

To setup a Exchange Archiving, same I setup another Exchange server to hold the archiving mailbox, or should I use the existing Exchange server and create an iSCSI connector to a NAS and save the mailboxes there ?

Will there be any performance issue if archiving mailbox and and current mailbox is hosted by the same server ?

Will those archiving mailbox be synchronized to the Outlook , or it can only be accessed online ?

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

its really your choice how you want to setup the archive. if your exchange server has enough resources it can definitely handle adding an archive mailbox database. No need to add an Exchange server just for an archive Database.
yes the archive mailbox will be viewable in outlook and OWA.

Will the archived mailbox be synchronized to Outlook ? If the size is 100GB for archived, can I control how does it synchronize ?

No the archive does not sync with your outlook ost. the archive is only accessible online and not cache. .

Outlook doesn't create a local copy of the archive mailbox on a user's computer, even if it's configured to use Cached Exchange Mode.
