I have a Server 2016 Hyper-V base server with 6 Server 2016 Hyper-V virtual machines that I need to backup.

What is the best Veritas Backup Exec product and licenses to purchase for performing this kind of backup?

Will purchasing Backup Exec from the URL below allow me to do a complete backup of this server or will I need to purchase additional licenses or options?

Hi,

I would highly recommend to go for Veeam backup and replication. This will perfectly suits for your environment .

My recollection of researching this a while back is that you need a Backup Exec license for each virtual machine which means it can get expensive.

I agree with looking at Veeam as an alternative approach.

OK, I've been using the free evaluation version of Veeam and received an email a while back (that I must have deleted since I can't find it anymore) about a one year trial of their full version backup software.

Is there any way that I can still take advantage of that one-year trial offer from Veeam without having the email?

What website do I need to go to or what code(s) do I need to take advantage of that one-year trial offer?

I would go back and ask Veeam to send you a new email about the trial. That will avoid mistakes here.
Hi IT Guy

I would recommend Veeam backup as well. You pay per CPU, it's working very well and fast. Recovery is simple and fast as well.
The only solution so far, that convinced me for Hyper-V backup (and Esxi paid version)

Thomas
