alternative adobe acrobat for filling out pdf
I already did 7 day adobe acrobat trial

Nope...didn't forget that. I took "fill out pdf document with text" to mean that he wants to fill out a PDF form that has fillable fields, which you can do with Adobe Reader. Regards, Joe

Yes, my experience is that for every PDF you get that has fillable fields, you get 5 that are just pdf documents you need to print and fill out OR use a software to add your text to it. So I assumed he will have the same problem. just to say...

In those cases, text annotations work well. The free Adobe Reader, free Foxit Reader, and free PDF-XChange Editor all have a text annotation feature. However, if you need to add/change/delete the actual text in a PDF (unusual when filling out a PDF, even if it's not a fillable form), then you'll need a product that can edit the text in a PDF, which none of the three free products that I mentioned can do (the paid versions of those products can, as well as many others).
