PTA on its own doesnt offer seamless SSO experience, but it can easily be combined with the so-called &quot;Seamless SSO&quot; feature, which is also configurable via AAD Connect. Using the both together will offer you an experience very similar to using AD FS, without the additional overhead. It's explained in the article I linked above and the references therein, make sure to go over them.
