Write base configuration changes to memory

I changed the IP and Name of a 2960 switch, but randomly after a reboot it reverted back to the old settings.  How can I make sure the changes get written to memory?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi tike55

really?

execute "write memory" command after every change you want to keep.

ps: or I misunderstood you, then "show startup-config"

Assuming you are saving the changes with a 'wr mem" or a "copy run start" if your changes are not saving then your config register is set wrong

show version

will tell you your config register settings. If its set wrong try the following commands;

conf t
no system ignore startupconfig switch all
exit
config-register 0x102
wr mem
