IE just crashes upon opening

IE 11, in WIn 10, 1803 attempts to open, but after a few seconds of trying to open, it just closes by itself.  It just started doing this a day or so ago.
Really weird.  Firefox and Chrome work fine.  Edge works fine as well.

Any ideas?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

First thing I would try is to set IE back to defaults.  Internet Options/Advanced/Rest.

If that does not work I would reinstall IE.
Type Control Panel in the search box from desktop and select Control Panel.
Click on View all in the left pane and click on Programs and Features.
Select Turn Windows Features on or off.
In Windows features window, check the box for Internet Explorer program.
Restart the computer.

If were still in the not working stage, you might try a DISM repair run or just not use IE, its advised to use Edge as it's replacement.  I do understand legacy issues but I hate to say it, IE is dead.

The first option did not work Internet Options/Advanced/Rest.
Will try the 2nd next.

Yea, I know it's dying ....... but it's useful for testing.  Yes, the other browsers are much better.

Please let us know about DISM and if that works.

I have IE on 3 machines here and one client machine I have and IE 11 works on all machines.

2 Things:

1. Try a new, test Windows User Profile (Account). Log in and test IE. If IE crashes in a new Windows Profile, go to 2.
2. Do a Windows 10 Repair Install and keep everything.

Go to the Media Creation Link:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

For Windows 10 V1709 and prior:
Windows 10 is running, so click on the Download button (not Upgrade Button, select Open (Run) but NOT Save. Allow the program to run. Allow drivers to update. Then select Keep Everything.

For Windows 10 V1803:
If the Repair will not run as per above:
Create a USB Windows Installation key and then run Setup on the USB Key.
This will launch the Repair and proceed normally.
