Using SSIS to insert into a SQL table from an Excel file but first check for file existence

Can someone point me to a few good links that illustrate how to use SSIS to read an Excel xls file and then insert that data into a SQL table? First I want to check for the existence of the xls file and if it is there proceed with the import. I have started by creating a script task but I cannot see where the connection from that task is made to the FileExists variable I defined so I can determine whether or not to proceed. I have both the script task and the OLE DB Destination task started but I do not get the second arrow indicating failure. I have been scouring the internet for example but have not found any that provide a solution.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Thanks to this link I was able to get this almost perfect.
The only remaining problem is how do I handle the condition when the file does not exist? Right now my project crashes abruptly. Is there something I can do to create a soft landing?

From the script task mentioned in the link you have shared across, you can create another flow to handle the non existence of file like this..
Since you have requested for link, sharing one where it has 2 flows from the script task based upon Precedence constraint editor..
