Hello, I am wondering if there are example diagrams of how internet cookies work from one website which has advertising banners and when clicked the process of redirection?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Not really.  Cookies are text that is sent from the server to the web browser where it is stored, usually temporarily.  The next time a page is requested from that same server, the cookie that was stored is sent along with the page request.  Cookies by themselves don't do anything.  Servers read the cookies to get the information for a number of purposes.  Cookies do not and can not cause redirection.  That is done by the server or the web page.
