Display user notification bubble for unread posts when logged in

I was wondering if there was a way I can display a notification bubble on my marketplace so any unread custom posts called notifications display a bubble count to the user/vendor when they log in.

I’m not sure where to start. Can someone help please.

Have you tried utilizing any existing notification plugins from the WP plugin database?

https://wordpress.org/plugins/notification/ can be something that you might be able to use. You can use it to send email or push notifications, and use it with custom fields or post types, and use specific triggers to show you what you need, in this case, count upon user login.

I did look at that plugin, but it seems very bulky for what I want to achieve. I am using Dokan Multivendor which has its own notifications. But all I want to do is display a bubble displaying new unread notifications (posts) its using a custom post type called dokan_announcement
You should try to contact the author of the Dokan about their API .
I have researched the documentation and it does support rest api but I can't find anything on notifications. I just want to display the count in the header when the user logs in?
