Hyper V VM's wont get out to internet when changed to external switch

My Hyper V VM cannot get out to the internet. I setup a Hyper V lab with multiple server 2012\16 machines. I originally set them up on the private switch because I didnt think I would need the internet. I decided I needed it so I switch it to the external switch and they can still see each other but just not get out to the internet.

One of my VM's which I setup with the external switch when I installed it, still gets out to the internet. Just the ones im changing from a private switch to external wont work. Is there something I am missing?

What are the DNS in your VMs and in your Virtualization Host?

if you connect to your host, does it have internet?

The virtual switch in hyper-v is just a switch. If you have connectivity issues, start by troubleshooting within the guests. Normal steps apply here as if they were physical servers.

Okay that is probably why, I had it setup in a lab environment and had DNS pointing to the internal 2012 server. I tried to put an external forwarder(google 8.8.8.8) but still I cannot get outside. Any suggestions?
