Display page number in details section in crystal reports

Hi,
I am working with crystal reports in VB.NET 2008.  I need to understand that how can I insert a page number in the details section.  Please note it has to be in the details section. I've tried the traditional way of placing the special field "page N of M" in the details section but while printing multiple pages for a single record, it only appears at the end of the record, while what I need is that it should appear on each page and get reset for a new record.  Will I have to create a formula to accomplish this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Can you explain about the sections having data fields in your report?
Do you have any groups? Are you using report footer section with any summary or any other information?

To do what you want I believe you will have to add a group header that can be repeated on each page.

I don't know of anyway to repeat an object on each page.

Crystal works Top Down and Left to Right.
Everything in the detail section will print only once for each detail record

Hi,
I've been able to resolve the issue.  It's true that the details section cannot repeat as desired so I put the the pagenumber field in a new footer section and adjusted the design of the report and "the problem" got resolved. This might sound like a workaround but it's exactly what I needed.

Thanks one and all for the valuable insights.

Isn't your solution essentially what I said?
You used a footer rather than a header.
