"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

How close does a row have to be to be considered 'adjacent'?

5 rows up and  5 downs
Are you sure you need 5 rows up?

Let's assume the data in the first 7 cells in column 'B' are
Row 5: 857
Row 6: 287
Row 7: 487
Row 8: 613
Row 9: 687
Row 10: 879
Row 11: 601

If I start with the first row (let's call that the start row) and look at the next 4 rows I'll find a match for '87' in rows 6, 7 and 9 and so column 'E' for row 5 will be 2857,4857,2487,6857.
Then if I make the start row = row 6 and look for matches in rows 7 to 10 I'll find matches in rows 7 and 9 and so column 'E' for row 6 will be 4857,2487,6857 which I think is what you want. If on the other hand if the start row is 6 and I look up 5 and down 5 I'll get the same results as I did when the start row was 5 which would be be 2857,4857,2487,6857 again.

Which do you want?

I guess the best way to answer the question is by attaching this workbook. In it if the current row is 6 (for example) I look for matches in row 7 to 11. Let me know if there are matches in the first 15 rows that I've missed.

Just remove the 'Stop' line. I used it for debugging and I should have deleted it.
