Differencing software for files system and Windows Registry

I am wondering if there is free software out there that can accomplish differencing on a file system level as well as in the Windows Registry?

I am wanting to see what files are installed during an installation and what changes are made to the registry.  Sort of like taking a snapshot before the installation and then immediately afterward and comparing the 2 versions for differences.

Thank you,

Tom

i have never used this, but:
Regshot is an open-source (LGPL) registry compare utility that allows you to quickly take a snapshot of your registry and then compare it with a second one - done after doing system changes or installing a new software product.
