Well it depends on how much and your infrastructure, if you're backing up to an external drive, something like robocopy would facilitate this quite well.

What data are you backing up as well? Backing up databases to the cloud isn't possible without the correct software.

I'd use RoboCopy (if Widows) or RSync (if Linux), as both are free and come with the server OS.

If you want backup files you can use any backup software
if you want backup database that backup software should support database agent . or offline take the database .

I suggest use

10 Tips to Protect Your Business from Ransomware

Did you know that ransomware is the most widespread, destructive malware in the world today? It accounts for 39% of all security breaches, with ransomware gangsters projected to make $11.5B in profits from online extortion by 2019.

Backup exec is quite expensive for what it is, until you know the type of data they are wanting to backup it'll be hard to recommend a decent solution. Likelihood is robocopy would facilitate this well, plus it's free.

Backup exec is very easy to use, pretty reliable, but the cost is a defining factor.

rsync for non-windows systems for plain files.
Then again if storing data on public site you may want to encrypt the data.
Then a proper   archiver (star, cpio, ...) can create a single file you can store encrypted.

At least all data needs to be preserved that includes ACL's, ownership , access mask as well as content.
