Excel - Freezing Top Row and a Column

Using Excel, seems like there is a way to BOTH freeze the top row AND a column to the left using some combination of:

Split

&

Freeze

Not VBA  code, but using the main features of the program itself.  However, can't figure it out.  What am I missing?

Thanks!

(For no credit) Rob is right but to you said "AND a column to the left", so to be clear, the column(s) that you freeze to the left have to start at column 'A'.

Thanks to Rob & Martin! :))))))))))))))))))))
To confirm, everything to the left or above the cursor will be frozen.

I never use split screen setting but often use Freeze Panes; I have actually written an article about Freeze Panes.
