Windows OS problem

I have Windows server 2012 server which was stuck at Windows logo screen and was not coming up to login screen. It's a VM, so I had to reboot through vcenter since it was stuck. It was pinging as well. Now I need provide root cause analyses as they say it was down for almost 20 hours. What are the logs, I should to provide proper justification

thanks, but server has come up online after rebooting, need to provide RCA, what are all logs, I should check  and to justify why it went in hung state.
sometimes you won't find anything in the logs since many times the logging also stops when the server stops...
you have to do memory dump analysys

for vm ps see the following link to et the memorydump

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3118553/how-to-troubleshoot-windows-based-computer-freeze-issues#virdump

and after you can do analysis either using WinDebug tools

or instant

all the best
thanks for update, will check core dump
I doubt you will find a Core Dump as the system was still responding to IMCP requests. You best bet would be to look in the event viewer in the Application / security / and system Logs.
Exactly. RCA usually is about reproducible issues, and when you are certain beforehand of having logs. Of course YMMV
I have the joy of trying to find issues like this often. One great log to check and is often overlooked is in event viewer, the  Administrative log.
As others mentioned, application log, system log.
As a guess it was updating, and got stuck. I'd also look at the windowsupdate.log in the root of the %windir% (windows) folder.
Lastly look through vcenter logs for any odd issue also.
