I can connect to my remote apps and run them locally but not outside of our network. Gateway server cannot be accessed when trying the run the app. Before it was my certificate didn’t match but I don’t get that message anymore.

can you connect to the gateway locally? if yes and not externally then look at your firewall/router port forwarding rules.

I guess I'm not sure what all ports need to be looked at and under what name. I can't find any data online for this subject. What I have found is very vague
Are they running on the same machine? Gateway uses port TCP 3389 and UDP 3391. RDWA uses TCP 443 usually.
Secondly, you can learn all you will ever need about RDS here: https://www.amazon.com/RDS-Complete-Guide-Everything-about-ebook/dp/B07C6849WD

I wrote the book with fellow Microsoft MVP for RDS Freek Berson. It covers this particular setup in details, including how to use the same FQDN for internal and external access.
