Upgrading PKI from SHA1 to SHA2

What is the process and implications for upgrading our PKI infrastructure from SHA1 to SHA2.

We currently have a PKI infrastructure with an offline Root CA and a subordinate CA, built on server 2012. The current hash algorithm is SHA1 and we need to move to SHA2. I cant seem to find a solid technet article that spells out the process step by step.

Thtanks Pete, that is exactly what I needed. I was worried about affecting previous certificates.
