Upgrading PKI from SHA1 to SHA2

What is the process and implications for upgrading our PKI infrastructure from SHA1 to SHA2.

We currently have a PKI infrastructure with an offline Root CA and a subordinate CA, built on server 2012. The current hash algorithm is SHA1 and we need to move to SHA2. I cant seem to find a solid technet article that spells out the process step by step.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
