Downgraded nic port in vSphere 6

I have a vSphere 6.0 host with an Intel 82576 dual nic card in it.  One of the two ports is only registering as a 100 mb/s connection.  I believe a few months ago it was full speed but don't recall now.  It is going into a Cisco gigabit switch.

Any suggestions on this?

Check if it's hard coded to 100Mb, if it is change it to 1GB or AUTO.  If that doesn't resolve it look at the switch port to see what speed it's set to.

Check Cable and Physical Port on the Switch, otherwise change network cable and physical switch port.

Also check Network Firmware on the server.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the direction.  It was indeed a cable.  I'd done some rewiring a few weeks ago and had to use a longer cable that (apparently) had issues.  Hadn't noticed it at the time.  That one is now in the trash.

Much appreciated!

Yes, there are some non 1Gbe cables out there, we find them at least once a week, what is the matter with them we've no idea, they test correctly, but refuse to link (auto negotiation) at 1GBe!
