Hi Folks
I would really appreciate any comment/input on the subject
1. What is the best (free?) tool for converting .mdb back-ends to SQL Server?
2. Does it handle all (Access mdb) data-types, autonums and relationships?
3. How difficult / complicated is it to use?

thanks in advance

I use the Microsoft SQL Server migration Assistant for Access (free). Can be a bit fiddly to set all the options, but it will do as much/little as you want, and you can do a test, save your project to rerun, and repeat until you have it right.

Yes it'll handle all of what you ask for.

The recommended tool, SSMA:
Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant 7.10 for Access

But do study the system requirements.
Some install SSMA in a Virtual Machine to avoid conflicts with already installed Office and ODBC drivers.

Hi Folks
thanks for the input. I'm inclined to stick with an all Microsoft solution.
Can I assume SSMA will work OK with Express?
thanks
