Can I get my old Google Chrome version back?

For me the new Google Chrome sucks big time. They are getting more like Microsoft and publishing software without proper focus group testing. Can I get my old version back?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

My current version looks much like older versions. What is your issue?  New versions have security updates, so going backwards is not a good idea.

This seems to be a question that's popping up quite often about Chrome of late. From an answer I gave earlier this month...

want to revert back to a previous version, the following websites have positive user visitors reports by Avast web inspector and offer older version install files. You could try one of these;

https://www.slimjet.com/chrome/google-chrome-old-version.php

https://google_chrome.en.downloadastro.com/old_versions/

Disclaimer: Never tried to install from the above sites myself.

I hope that's helpful.

Regards, Andrew

It's mainly the tabs being extended to the top of the screen and being merged together. In the past it was easy to visually find a tab I was searching for plus I could click above any tab to select the whole screen. Now I have to go to the far right to select the screen as clicking above any tab selects just the tab.  If I terminate full screen mode I do have space above the tabs to select the screen but that's a pain.

Firefox's new version is the same but terminating full screen does not eliminate the problem.

Also the tabs came is is a sickening pinkish red color that looks terrible.

We’d all like to think our company’s data is well protected, but when you ask IT professionals they admit the data probably is not as safe as it could be.

I don't ever see anything that is sickenly pink.

No pink here.

Windows 7 and up, go to Display Calibration and calibrate your colours (all sections), Make sure your display looks good.

Now uninstall Chrome, restart and install it again. Test.

I didn't reinstall but picked another theme called Black Carbon + Silver Metal which looks better.  I just prefer more space between tabs but this one will work. Thanks!!!

so it was in your choice of theme, would have helped if you mentioned that you were not using the stock chrome but a themed one.

Glad you found a theme that you can live with.
