:Every time I add a new contact to Outlook, it makes me enter my local area code, but it doesn't save the information from day to day. If I add more contacts today, it's fine. Tomorrow, it will make me fill in our local area code as soon as I type in a contact's phone number. Is there a way to get it to save the My Location area code?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Windows uses the information set in the control panel under 'Phone and Modem' to determine the default area code.

If you don't want it to ask for the area code at all, in the phone and modem section under "What country/region..." set the dropdown to
"International Free phone Service"
