I would like to remove all formatting features in my word document so I can edit it. Unfortunately, the borders and boxes around paragraphs cannot be undo.
Is there a way to undo all formatting features attached to the document particularly the paragraphs and borders because I cannot go outside the area if I want to add some more text.

Paragraph borders can be removed with the  Borders dropdown in the Paragraph group on the Home tab.

However the text might be in text boxes. Moving the text out of them would require some decimations about where the text should go.

Can you post a non-confidential portion of the document, so we can understand the situation better?

Agree with Graham, but a quick and dirty option can also be to copy the entire document into something like Notepad, then copy and paste from Notepad into a new word document. This will remove all formatting and only apply the formatting that has been set up and pre-configured in your Word .dotm template file.

I hope that's helpful.
