Reclaiming mail from a deleted Hybrid Exchange 2013 Office 365 shared mailbox

Hi looking for the practical steps to reclaim mail from a deleted\purged Exchange 2013 Hybrid Office365 account

Call the shared mailbox test, it was originally a user mailbox, then converted to shared mailbox

What are the steps to reclaim it?

Would be great to get this from someone who has done it today or last week?

A mailbox was deleted in error and looking to get the mail back

What are the options available?

how long ago was it deleted, because you can retrieve a deleted mailbox before 30 days, and after 30 days it's completely gone and not retrievable. you also mentioned purged, so if you deleted and the purged the mailbox it is instantly gone and not retrievable.

Apologies Tim I should have mentioned it was only deleted last Thursday, (I will have to check to see if it was purged 100%) i didnt realise when purged its not retrievable

Check the recycle bin by connecting to O365 using powershell:

by running command: Get-MsolUser -ReturnDeletedUser

You can restore the deleted user in the O365 Admin Center GUI. See the below link for restoring the deleted user.

You can also choose to user powershell to restore the deleted mailbox also if you choose see below link:

Or you may run: Get-Mailbox -InactiveMailboxOnly | ? {$_.WhenSoftDeleted -lt [DateTime]::Now.AddDays(-30)} | ft Name,WhenSoftDeleted

You can then follow article to recover the mailbox
