Need Windows Email Client that can retrieve email from subfolders on AOL

I have Microsoft Office 2016 and I am using Outlook to connect to AOL (verizon.net) email. I have a lot of folders and email I want to keep. Recently, Outlook stopped RECEIVING email and nothing I've tried seems to fix it. (FYI, I obtained MS Office Professional 2016) from a prior job, and reinstalling it prompted for the key, I don't have it).

So I have downloaded 4 windows email clients (eM, Mailspring, Thundermail, Opera), all fail to download email contained in "custom" folders defined in AOL.

Any ideas?

So you can see these folders when you log into AOL WEBMail via a web browser?

Are you sure these folders were not offline folders within your Outlook mailbox?  If so, you'd need to import your former Outlook .pst file into your new email client.  I use eM at home but have never tried importing and have used Thuderbird in the past (at the time it would import .pst files).  That MAY be why you can't see those 'custom' folders.

They WERE offline folders created in Outlook. Took a little "doing" but all is working now.

Thanks.
