The Windows Explorer changes view from time to time, especially if adding new folders. <br />
<br />
The only way I have found that works like Explorer but retains its views until and unless you change it is xPlorer2 (zabkat.com). I have been using this for years and would not be without it. I am running xPlorer2 now on Windows 10 V1803. It runs in Windows 8 and Windows 7.

Almost every time I'm entering a directory on windows 8.1, I have to set the &quot;view&quot; again to &quot;list&quot;, which is my preference. <br />
