Question on SendBlaster 4 Pro - Sending Speeds

Using SendBlaster 4 Pro:

Hi,

Question on the Send/Advanced Settings regarding speed: I would like to be able to send out no more than 300 per hour so as not to violate my SMTP provider's requirements.

Can you estimate the approximate settings to accomplish that mission?

Thank you!

Since I have no knowledge of the software, but have checked the documentation, treat this advice with caution. There is no easy "no more than x per hour" option that I can see, which is something you may want to put in as a feature request.

Looking at the screenshot here: https://blog.sendblaster.com/2010/02/24/how-to-configure-sendblaster-with-the-right-advanced-settings/

You cannot send more than 300 messages per hour, so that works out at 5 messages per minute. You may want to target a rate of 4 messages per minute to be safe.

With that in mind, set your "connections" option to 1. If you set your block size to 4 the pause between blocks to 52 seconds and the pause between messages to 1 second, this should not exceed your quota. I am working on the assumption that it takes a second to send each email, and there is a second between each email being sent. I am also assuming that one email is sent at a time with the "connections" parameter set to 1. If you want to use more connections, you would need to adjust your settings and this will more than likely increase the delivery rate. You can modify the different parameters to send fewer messages per block, with different delays between blocks.

It may well be that the actual send rate is lower. Also, it could be higher if an email is sent more quickly. You may need to experiment.

Hi Karin,

Thank you for using the Ask a Question as suggested in my article here.

That's a difficult one and may require a bit of trial and error experimentation because it also depends on how fast your sends go with regards to your Internet upload speeds as well. That said, here's what I would suggest you start with. See the graphic below.

Suggested Timing Settings
I would start with the above settings first and if you find that it's too slow, gradually decrease the "Pause between messages (seconds)" and increase the "Messages per block" until you get the desired result. There's really too many variables to be able to give an accurate estimate as everyone's connection is different.

I hope that's helpful and please do let us know how you went.
