Hi Marinela,

I see you've just joined today, so welcome aboard to Experts Exchange.

I have the same problem? What can i do pls?

In order to get the best chances of help here, you'll need to provide more details with regards to the issues you're experiencing and also the environment that you're operating under. If you raised this question as a result of reading another one on Experts Exchange, provide a link to the previous question as well.

That said, assuming you're using a Windows environment, the first thing I would try is starting outlook in safe mode.

Press Windows Key + R
Type Outlook /safe and hit enter

The above will launch Outlook with all add-ins disabled. If that resolves the freezing problem, then you'll need to disable all add-ins, then re-enable one at a time and keep testing until you find the problematic one.

I'd also suggest trying a Microsoft Office repair from Programs and Features.

Please provide more info on your system though. What version of Windows, what version of Outlook, is it standalone or part of Microsoft Office, is it Office 365?

I hope that's helpful.

Regards, Andrew

Outlook frozen- you would see this is you are hosting your email and outlook lost the connection with your email server or with the internet if external email. We would need additional information on what is happening in order to provide you with a possible solution

I've seen this happen on some emails with a client of mine that has a monitor in Portrait, rather than Landscape mode. The freezing issue from the sender disappeared when he changed his monitor back to Landscape, or if he opened the email on his secondary Landscape monitor. Never did find the problem with the senders' email though, even after examining it closely.

Have you tried adding the sender of the email to the Safe Senders list in Outlook?

Also, what version of Windows and Microsoft Office are you running?

link of previous question which is also my prb

Not a terribly helpful ending by the author - didn't mention what solved the problem for them. Also suggest posting a comment in that question asking the author to expand on what the actual solution to their problem turned out to be.

One other thing.. get the sender whos email is freezing your Outlook to send you an email formatted in plain text (not in HTML) and see if you can open that email without any problems.

Also, have you tried opening the problematic email while Outlook is open in Safe mode?

Let us know how you go.

Hi Marinela,
Hi, in plain text, i can open them. But, what t do cuz sender sends by default html format.
That's what I expected - it confirms that the sender's email client is putting in some type of formatting that is incompatible with the problem users email client.

One more question - Is the problem happening on a Portrait orientated monitor?

If so, then despite many hours of searching and testing, I never could find a solution for my client that experienced this problem. The only solution I was able to give him was to use Outlook to open the problematic emails on his secondary Landscape orientated monitor. I've not heard any complaints from him recently though, so it's possible that upgrading to the current version of Office could resolve the problem, but I can't say for certain that would help.

I would start troubleshooting this problem by comparing Outlook settings and add-ins with a machine install (that has an identical version of both Outlook and operating system) and can open the email, to see if the cause can be resolved in that way. It's a difficult exercise when it only happens on some emails and not others, but I can't think of anything else to try.
