Google Chrome's running terribly

Hi.  My Google Chrome has been really glitchy a long while.  Ive deleted it/reinstalled, etc... no malware.  Edge and Vivaldi work great.  All my pwd are saved in Chrome so dont want to switch.

Id appreciate any assistance getting Chrome working right.

One odd thing I just noticed is that Edge and Vivaldi speedtest out at our purchased speed of 250MB, but Chrome cannot even pull 50.

Thank you ,

Another user here is having the same issue, only worse if I remember correctly.

Remove any Extensions in Chrome, then uninstall Chrome, restart and install it again but no extensions.

Does that help?
Also, in Chrome Settings, Advanced, clear browsing data and cache. Edge does this as well and it may assist fixing your issue.

I tried the reinstall etc.  Didn't work
Did you remove extensions and clear the browser cache?

In Windows 10, open an admin command prompt (open cmd.exe with Run as Administrator).

1. Run   SFC /SCANNOW   then
2. Run dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Restart and test.

Simple checks.

1) Check process list to see if some other process is eating up all CPU or memory (causing swapping).

2) Next check the Chrome task manager. Many site run stupid background tasks that can easily spin multiple cores at 100%. If this is the case, then just kill the task in Chrome's task manager + avoid the site causing problems.
"really glitchy" - could you please describe some details, so that we get an idea what we have here?

I tried the reinstall etc.  Didn't work
Did you also rename or remove Chrome's profile before you reinstalled? I ask because most people don't bother with that step and the problem just comes back after a normal uninstall and then reinstall.

Check out the article I wrote here:

https://www.experts-exchange.com/articles/32996/Resolve-Chrome-Issues-99-of-the-time-using-this-method.html

It's very rare for the steps I've provided in the above article to fail to resolve most performance and stability issues with Google Chrome in my experience. Give it a shot.

I hope that's helpful.

Regards, Andrew
I reset under Reset and clean up and it seems better!  But all my extensions are missing
Ok,.... found how to turn on extensions again.  Its incredible to me how much Chrome changes even in a month.
You might wish to leave Extensions off for a bit and see if performance matches your expectations.
Here's my current speed in speedtest.net.

 PING ms
9
 DOWNLOAD Mbps
286.38
 UPLOAD Mbps
11.83
That seems pretty good, does it not?
Im paying for 1gbps.  Comcast apparently cannot figure out how to get a gig to my modem
The figure was close to your first post. Maybe they need replace your modem for 4X the speed
Well the modem is a $300 docsis 3.1 netgear from Microcenter.  Just bought it Sat.  Speed tests are ranging from 50 to 450mbps.  It's extremely unreliable.
300Mbits/sec download is very fast. Your computer, operating system, network cables and drivers would  all need to be top notch to get vastly faster.
2nd try…
"really glitchy" = ?
I have a Hitron modem and much earlier this year it was quite variable. The technician had to install an attenuator in the cable line because the signal was too strong. Food for thought.
Hmmmmmmm.  Can you post a link about what the Attenuator looks like?
It is about 2 inches long, a bit bigger around than a cable with connections (in / out) on the ends.

Here is one here.

OK.  DumCast is coming out AGAIN tomorrow.  Lets see what they do :(
Still working on this with Comcast.  There's nothing wrong w/the signal inside.  Its prob on the wire outside and CCast will come back on the 29th to work on this.  They may need to pull another cable from the pedestal
ugh...this is a horrible situation.  I just got Comcast to verify we're getting a gig
Hi Mark,

Not sure what's going on with ComCast for you, but with regards to your Chrome issues, did you try the method I suggested in my comment earlier? If Chrome is indeed the problem, then that process will almost certainly fix the problem for you.

Here's the article link again.

Cheers, Andrew
all the issues are related too.  I'm sure I'll have to try the reinstall of the account yes
Hi guys.  Just checking in.  I still intend to do the profile reinstall.  Lots going on right now .  Sorry for the delays.  Plz hang in there w/me
You never mentioned what you found when you looked at the Task Manager output, during one of your glitchy periods.

Providing this information will be helpful.
I looked, but didnt find squat unfortunately
I still intend to do the profile reinstall.
Be sure to rename (or delete) the folders I mentioned in my article or it won't work.

Cheers... Andrew
ok
Actually everyone was really helpful.  Thank you guys - I appreciate you all.  Mark88
