Can apply SQL 2017 Standard Core volume license to trial verion

We cannot get our SQL 2017 licensed. We have been running the SQL 2017 trial and have now purchased SQL Server 2017 Standard Core Edition via volume licensing.
I have downloaded the ISO from VLSC, run the setup, selected maintenance and then edition upgrade. This shows the product key pre-populated  runs some pre-checks
before the final page with the upgrade button. Proceeding with the upgrade everything goes 100% and reports as upgraded. However, when I query the SQL installation it
returns no licence details -
SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('LicenseType'), SERVERPROPERTY('NumLicenses')
We only have 2 days left on the trial so as a definitive check I advance the system date and tried to restart the SQL service which fails due to trial period exceeded.
Am I missing something on how to apply the volume license?

Another way of the Standard edition installation is to use just the Installation key from your VLSC ISO.
Don't execute Setup from the ISO but just the SQL Server 2017 Installation Center from your evaluation version.
Then select Maintenance / Edition upgrade and enter the Installation Key into an empty box for the key.

Restart the computer just once and only if it is required after the upgrade.
If the SQL Server still shows evaluation edition then restart just SQL Server service several times.

Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (SP1-CU1) (KB3208177) - 13.0.4411.0 (X64)   Jan  6 2017 14:24:37   Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation  Enterprise Evaluation Edition (64-bit) on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard 6.3 <X64> (Build 9600: ) (Hypervisor)

It seems we have SQL 2016 & 2017 installed! I have attached a copy of the SQL entries showing in programs and features.
Not sure how to proceed or how to check if it is safe to remove SQL 2016?

After determining that the DB engine was version 2016 I ran up the full upgrade option from the VLSC installation media. This upgraded the DB engine and licensed my software. Thanks for the pointer.
Thanks for the help. Once I determined the DB engine was 2016 I was on the track to sorting the problem. I didn't get the opportunity to try running the edition upgrade from the evaluation software.
You are welcome!
