I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

for the small business with security you can choose the UTM devices .. which covers all features... like Security, VPN, Routing, Failover Link, loadbalancing etc. which comes in different models suits to size of business.

you can choose Sonicwall, watchguard, fortiget etc.

before selecting the utm device ...make it sure the support and availability of the device in your area...

all the best

try Ubiquity networks, cheap and best.

For the Router/UTM - SonicWall, Watchguard, Fortinet all have reliable products, though I do prefer SonicWall

For Wirless VLANS/DMZ's I've used Access points from Engenius and Ubiquiti (different deployments, not combined) and have found both to be reliable

I can't stand sonicwall or Fortinet (after recent issues).  I recommend and have used at all my sites for years, Untangle.  In addition I would recommend Ubiquiti access points.  This means your router and access point (wifi) are NOT on the same device.  Generally a better practice anyway.

Care to elaborate?

Can't uninstall it.  Ever try to uninstall the forticlient?  I've been going back and forth with someone on it and it refuses to allow me to uninstall.  Never seen a VPN product REFUSE to allow me to remove it.    But I'm not asking (yet) for help.  I'm actually a Fortinet partner and know a couple of others who have stopped using them for various reasons.  I used to include them in my recommendations but the more I've heard others comment on them, the more I'm inclined to not recommend and this latest incident is very irritating to me.

I see, yea I can't say I've used FortiNET other than to their reputation.. But even if it were something I used things like that would having me looking for a replacement too
