I need to connect a just installed Outlook 2007 to existing Outlook.pst/log and Archive.pst/log files as well as to my Hotmail account. (The Outlook files might have been created with a later version of Outlook.) How can I do that? When I start the wizard, I get the dialog window shown in the attached file. I tried to put both my Hotmail credentials and my local computer account credentials, but neither seems to be working. What should I do? Thank you.

You need the Hotmail connector.

Try:  https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=24677

Outlook 2007 is pretty old, so you will have to try the above and see if it works.

That did not work; so, I purchased Office 365 Personal and installed Outlook from there. It did connect to my Hotmail account, but how can I make it see old e-mails in my local old Outlook files resting on my local hard drive?

Import your PST file into a new Outlook Account with your new Outlook.  That will work.
